Method was tasked with creating a vision of the near future for Huawei Health and their EMUI (Emotional UI).
Our vision is based on the "Project Faraday" work Method previously completed for Huawei.
"Faraday" is the motion and interaction behaviours for the operating system that adopted the principles of magnetism.
This concept set the foundation for Huawei's new design language.
Designed to feel less boxed in by avoiding the use of cards and containers to make the content feel part of the overall design.
We introduced a distinctive stencilised typographic style for both Chinese, English & Cyrillic characters to reflect the physical form of a magnet.
The negative spaces within the letterforms were used to subtly represent a magnet's N & S poles.
An intelligent colour algorithm was formulated to make text and UI elements legible against any background, making the content feel more integrated.
Particles were used in various ways to conceal, reveal and transition through different states & screens.
The phone’s AI is designed to know whether certain activities are being performed. It changes the lock screen into a contextual information area so the user can avoid unlocking their phone so much.
A core experience principle to this system was to be "Reverent" and therefore instead of you travelling to specific areas to view content, this system adapts the current state and brings the content to you.
The visual language extends across all Huawei's products and services for a coherent brand experience.
Apps for other devices have also been designed with the same level of integrity.
